As of Wednesday March 18, 2020 Brooklyn Heights Veterinary Hospital remains OPEN with the following changes:

1) Clients will receive an email containing several questions regarding their pets’ history, which should be filled out in advance of the appointment and sent back to the hospital. There is ample room for you to make notes and requests.

2) Clients are asked to wait outside and call the hospital [(718) 624-1200] upon arrival at which point a technician will come outside and collect your pet from you.

3) Exams are taking place in the back separate from the clients to limit our doctors’ exposure. Please allow 30 – 45 minutes for your pet to be examined. If you’d like to speak with the doctor before treatment, please let the technician know when you hand your pet off.

4) Please allow 48 – 72 hours for medication refills. While there are no shortages of medication at the moment, we are processing an unusually high volume of requests with fewer members of staff.

5) Please call before picking up food and medicine so as to make sure it is here. We are short staffed and we want to limit the number of trips clients have to make outside of their homes.

6) Lastly, due to our current staffing situation, we will not be able to initialize new insurance claims for clients. We will do our best to assist in extreme cases and provide any medical information as requested by the insurance company. We are doing our best to prioritize your pets medical needs and we ask your patience.

On behalf of all of us at Brooklyn Heights Veterinary Hospital, we wish you and your pets good health and safety.

Dr. Heather Thomson, DVM and the Brooklyn Heights Veterinary Hospital staff
